Introducing…Us! Get to Know the People Behind Navy Corgi
We’ve been blogging now for two years and documenting Navy and Duke’s lives on Instagram for two and a half years. I realized we’ve never once properly introduced ourselves. I guess I always wanted the focus of our account to be on Navy and Duke, and I figured the about page on our blog said all you needed (and wanted) to know about the humans behind Navy Corgi.
One of my favorite parts of the Instagram dog community is getting to really know the people behind my favorite dogs’ accounts. Over time I saw y’all actually cared about us and wanted to get to know more about who we are and where we are from, what we do for work (the most COMMONLY asked question, lol), etc.
Zach and I are generally pretty private people–we don’t like to share much. But in putting our lives on social media, we’ve definitely opened the door on our personal lives, so I figured this post was long overdue.
Before I get started in telling you about myself, I needed to put a disclaimer out there. I do not do any of this alone. My better half, Zach, also known as corg-dad and dad, is truly the backbone that keeps our little family and our little side business together. If it wasn’t for him setting up our website, handling all payments for collaborations, working with the lawyers and our accountant, this account wouldn’t be anything it is today. Without Zach I would have quit long before I started. Thank you Z!
For starters, hi, I’m Alex, also known as corg-mom, mom, etc. I am the voice behind Navy and Duke’s account, the one replying to your comments and messages, and the primary photographer for the dogs’ photoshoots.
I played division one field hockey in college, though after a career ending injury I ended up being the team GPA booster on the sidelines. I like to keep myself busy. I thrive under deadlines and having a million things on my to-do list. Naturally, I started a career in program management. I spent a good portion of my career working in international affairs which took me to some pretty cool places around the world and met some truly incredible people.
Why corgis? I’ve loved corgis ever since I first saw one. In high school I volunteered at an animal rescue. My siblings and I somehow persuaded our parents to let us adopt a dog, and the rest was history. Our family brought home our corgi rescue mix and I was hooked. I love that corgis have big dog energy in a small/medium dog body. They have the silliest smiles, they are so playful, smart, and have great personalities.
Now enough about me. We found these ‘get to know ya’ type questions on Pinterest and figured we would give a few a shot. 😉
