Our Bark Social Dog-Friendly Engagement Party
We’ve only mentioned it a few times but Zach and I, Navy and Duke’s parents, recently got engaged!
Almost immediately after getting engaged, we knew we wanted to get some friends and family together to celebrate. Though, in these COVID times, we knew that our friend’s and family’s safety was most important. We ultimately decided to organize a small celebration with our local friends and a separate celebration with our immediate families.
Zach and I both do not like to be the centers of attention. However, we did want to share this special moment with some of the people who have been a part of our relationship.
Shortly after we announced our engagement on social media, Bark Social reached out and offered to host our engagement party (!!!). If you haven’t heard of Bark Social yet, it is a private, off-leash dog park with an indoor and outdoor beer/coffee bar soon to open in Bethesda, MD. Needless to say, we are EXCITED for them to open. Stay tuned on our social media and theirs to hear more about their grand opening.
We decided to host the engagement party at our home. Zach and I never had the opportunity to throw a housewarming party, mainly because it took us a few months to actually. We wanted to use this engagement party as an excuse to show our friends our new place! Plus, having the get together at our home allowed us to have our dogs attend–something incredibly important to us. Besides Navy and Duke, we also had our friends’ dogs join in on the fun as well–Bruce, Chance and Willow.
The party truly turned out to be better than I could ever imagine. We haven’t been able to get together with friends for months, so it was lovely to have our close friends together to celebrate. Bark Social ensured our bar was stocked with some of the best local brews. We also ordered our favorite pizza from Broadlands Brickoven. The buffalo chicken pie was a hit! Everyone swooned over our navy blue cake and a massive cake for the dogs.
Bark Social arranged for a photographer to come and capture the event. I would recommend this to any bride looking to host an engagement celebration–hire a photographer! It was really quite relaxing to know someone was capturing the memories for us. I didn’t take my phone out at all during the event, and I focused on socializing with our guests.
We compiled a few of our favorite photos from the event to share with you. Enjoy!
We really had such a fantastic time at our little engagement party. We enjoyed every minute of the event, and I know our friends did as well. This party was a perfect preview for how much fun we will have at our wedding (whenever that may be).
I want to give a special THANK YOU to our excellent hosts, Bark Social. They truly went above and beyond to host and plan the most perfect little dog-friendly engagement party. We cannot wait for Bark Social to officially open so we can start spending all our time there.
